Lamu Arts and Theatre Alliance (LATA) is a community-based organization based in Lamu County, Kenya. We work at the intersection of arts, culture, governance, environment, education, and social cohesion. Our core purpose is to use creative expression as a tool for community empowerment, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.
LATA promotes theatre, dance, music, media, fine arts, creative writing, and storytelling to address social challenges and amplify community voices. We believe the arts are powerful instruments for transformation, dialogue, and inclusive development.
Through performances, trainings, and community forums, LATA creates spaces where people express themselves, learn, and participate actively in shaping their future.
